Whoever runs this site should remove him. I voted on all battles (after signing up and then not getting a battle because I'm new so I do a topical battle on the forum), and then he tells I'm guessing his friend Knoxville not to worry, none of the new votes are counting against him. It's clear fuckery.

Who runs a league or website like this? That's not fostering community, or activity, it's punishing it. If my votes don't count, I'll go back to the Twitter league.

You do realise he’s giving his time to run the league for the community? It must seem like a thankless task sometimes. It’s common practise not to accept votes from new accounts so as to stop people sockpuppeting and making alts to vote for themselves, don’t take it personally. I expect you’ll get a battle when the new ones go up, chill out.

Yeah but you could potentially be an alt account of one of the people who you voted for, or any enemy of one of the people you voted against. I doubt you are, but I think it’d apply to anyone in your position so as I said don’t take it personally. Voters are generally appreciated, be cool and reasonable and I expect you’ll be given a battle in the next round.

The last round went up like 5 days before you signed in, you’ll just need to be patient. It does seem slow at the moment but that’s down to the user base. You got any practical suggestions for how to reduce instances of sock puppet account voting, other than a probationary period for new members or whatever?

i mean, they have the ability to check ip addresses & that’s how they saw who was voting for themselves before, so i’d expect this to be no different if people were doing the same. i know there are vpns that hide an ip but i don’t know how that works ultimately, and i’m sure someone with a new ip address everytime they post would draw some suspicion to themselves.

but yeah, the first thing i’ve ever done on new sites is vote on matches. helps with post count in between waiting for someone to answer a battle call out or league match postings etc.. but i definitely understand a probationary period being implemented.

either way, the increased activity is welcome by me. more people join & engage, the better.

Not going into details here but static IP banning is pretty much useless against anyone who’s determined. One user specifically called out that he’s concerned about voting shenanigans in his battle so it puts Miracle in an awkward position. I’ve not got a horse in this race, just feeling bad for Mir since he’s surely still reeling from getting publicly dissed by Sinacog. Vexed TO DEATH mind you.

Personally I wouldn’t really care too much if I thought someone was cheating votes against me, but I guess I’m just built different.

yeah that Sinacog verse hurt me too & it wasn’t even directed at me. dude went nuclear lol.

& i’m with you on the voting. i don’t really care who votes on my battles as long as it’s explained. i learn from every vote so i take giving & receiving feedback very seriously. & with this sites lack of voters/voting, it’s kind of a let down, cuz everyone wants a battle but very few of these same battlers vote.

hopefully that changes as we progress.

See I’m actually kind of the opposite. I seldom learn anything. Haha.

I mean, I just write what I like, for the enjoyment of the writing process and a bit of escapism. Positive feedback is always great to hear but I don’t rely on it for validation, and I don’t tend to change anything about my style based on the opinions of others. I could probably work out voters’ preferences on aggregate and try to win more votes that way, but that sounds overly serious for me, I can’t be arsed. Occasionally someone will give some advice which resonates and I’ll take it on board, but not often tbh. I used to just cypher on here for years so the whole voting thing is still a bit of a novelty to me.
